Former NAACP Chairman Julian Bond first met Madison when the host was a college student, and the two then worked together when he came to the NAACP. Bond, who often goes on the show, called Madison a “good advocate who does a great job on the radio.”
“He was a wonderful organizer,” Bond said of Madison’s years working on voter registration with the NAACP. “He was able to get people to do things they didn’t know they wanted to do and didn’t think they wanted to do, and do them happily.”
